Alert Venture Foundry (AVF) is a technology venture studio that creates and develops technology-driven businesses from pure research through positive cash flow, then launches them as independent companies. Our projects span a diverse range of technologies and markets, including Flying Tools, robots with a long flexible arm and flying end effectors; Georgie's Kitchen, a direct-to-consumer food business delivering chef-crafted, premium chilled meals through a proprietary distribution technology; and several other projects still in early-stage research.

Job Summary

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) owns commercial strategy and execution across AVF's portfolio. This is a builder and an operator in one seat: you bring deep, hands-on expertise in B2C and B2B commercialization and are comfortable operating both at the strategic and hands-on level simultaneously. Initially, the role will focus heavily on Georgie's Kitchen's customer acquisition, brand, and growth, while also building the sales and commercial infrastructure AVF needs as ventures scale and new opportunities emerge.

What You'll Do

  • Operate as a hands-on builder and executive leader, owning commercial strategy and execution across AVF's portfolio and translating early-stage concepts and technologies into commercially viable businesses
  • Set commercial strategy across AVF's portfolio, adapting your approach to each venture's market, business model, stage of development, and maturity
  • Align commercial strategy with product strategy, positioning, pricing, and go-to-market decisions
  • Lead the commercialization of new ventures by validating market need, customer demand, willingness to pay, competitive positioning, and the most effective paths to market
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies, including positioning, pricing, packaging, channels, customer acquisition, partnerships, and launch plans
  • Own Georgie's Kitchen's consumer acquisition and retention strategy end-to-end, including brand development, digital and performance marketing, social, e-commerce, promotions, and local-market launch playbooks as the business expands to new locations
  • Establish and manage Georgie's Kitchen's consumer metrics and economics, including customer acquisition cost (CAC), conversion, retention, lifetime value (LTV), and marketing ROI

B2B Commercial Development

  • Build B2B marketing and commercial capabilities for Flying Tools and future technology and robotics ventures, including positioning, messaging, demand generation, sales enablement, and customer development for technically complex products
  • Lead the sales function across AVF's portfolio, establishing disciplined approaches to pipeline development, forecasting, CRM process, account planning, customer engagement, and commercial performance measurement
  • Personally engage with strategic customers, partners, and early adopters to develop relationships, understand market needs, validate commercial opportunities, and advance key opportunities
  • Provide executive leadership to Product Management, partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, and venture leadership to ensure customer and market insights inform product strategy, roadmap priorities, and commercialization decisions
  • Evaluate and shape business models, including pricing structures, routes to market, channel strategies, partnership models, and other commercial approaches appropriate to each venture
  • Build the commercial capabilities, processes, tools, and teams needed as ventures move from early validation through launch and growth
  • Identify what is working across the portfolio and develop repeatable commercial approaches that can be applied and scaled across AVF ventures
  • Establish clear commercial goals, metrics, and operating rhythms, using data and customer insight to evaluate performance, adjust strategy, and allocate resources effectively, and maintain clear accountability by business

What We're Looking For

  • 15+ years of progressive sales and marketing leadership, including senior commercial roles with direct revenue or P&L accountability
  • Extensive, hands-on B2C marketing experience across brand, digital and performance marketing, e-commerce, customer acquisition, retention, and marketing economics. This must be a genuine personal strength, not delegated experience
  • Extensive, hands-on B2B marketing and sales experience, ideally in technology, robotics, automation, or other complex technical products
  • A track record of commercial leadership across B2B and B2C businesses, including pipeline development, forecasting, strategic account management, and revenue generation
  • Demonstrated ability to build a commercial function from an early stage, not simply run one that already exists
  • Experience operating across multiple industries, products, or business models, with the ability to get up to speed quickly in unfamiliar markets
  • Comfortable operating at both the strategic and hands-on level. This is a role for someone who builds, not just someone who manages an established organization
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work effectively with founders, functional leaders, technical teams, and customers
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field required
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
