Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley, operating across water, energy and environment sectors throughout the UK.

We have been named a partner on a new AMP8 framework with United Utilities, which will extend our relationship for at least the next five years. The partnership is set to be responsible for over £3bn of major infrastructure in the North West of England. Investment includes upgrades to wastewater treatment works and reducing storm overflows through the delivery of the largest spill reduction programme in the UK, protecting more than 500km of rivers and bathing waters.

We are seeking an experienced Planner who will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that make a real difference to our environment and communities. These projects range from improving and upgrading water and wastewater treatment works to delivering nature-based solutions that enhance biodiversity.

The Role Of a Planner Includes

  • Develop detailed construction programmes using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
  • Monitor progress against baseline schedules and update regularly
  • Identify risks, delays, and opportunities, proposing mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate with operational, design and commercial staff and subcontractors to align programmes with site and design progress
  • Produce progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts for senior management and clients
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project milestones
  • Support tender planning and bid submissions with realistic programme schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of programme changes and justifications
  • Involvement with collaborative planning

Essential

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (preferred)
  • Experience in large-scale projects within the water sector
  • Proven experience in programme planning within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract
  • Competency in the use of Primavera P6 and an interest in 4D planning
  • Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, methodologies, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region

Desirable

  • Professional membership (e.g., APM, CIOB, ICE) is advantageous
  • Experience of working in an Enterprise/Alliance arrangement is advantageous
