The Opportunity Our COES team delivers planning, engineering, and design services across the full energy ecosystem, helping clients achieve their operational, resilience, and sustainability goals. Our work includes: Utility master planning Feasibility studies and business case development Central utility plants Electrical substations Microgrids and distributed energy systems Electrical distribution systems Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) District heating and cooling systems Campus and community energy infrastructure As a Project Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through the successful delivery of complex energy projects from planning and design through execution. You'll collaborate with industry-leading technical experts, engage directly with executive-level clients, and help shape the future of customer-owned energy systems. What You'll Do As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of complex Customer Owned Energy Systems projects, managing all aspects of project execution including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and resource management. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering and design teams, develop and implement project delivery strategies, and proactively address challenges to achieve project objectives. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, you will build trusted relationships, understand business needs, and provide clear communication to stakeholders, often executive-level leadership. You will oversee project financial performance through forecasting, cost control, Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) reporting, and Earned Value Management (EVM) practices. In partnership with Jacobs' Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams, you will leverage global expertise and digital capabilities to deliver innovative, efficient, and high-quality solutions that create lasting value for our clients. Minimum 7 years of professional experience serving as a Project Engineer or Project Manager delivering Customer Owned Energy Systems, utility infrastructure, energy, industrial, or similar projects. Demonstrated experience managing engineering and design project execution, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing project and client needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with executive-level stakeholders. Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience in project forecasting, cost control, and performance reporting. Experience working within Engineering, Consulting, Design-Build, EPC, or Construction organizations. Working knowledge of project risk management and project controls methodologies. Preferred Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer within the United States Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 10+ years of project management experience delivering Customer Owned Energy Systems or related energy infrastructure projects. Experience leading utility master planning efforts. Experience with thermal generation and thermal distribution systems. Experience with Thermal Energy Networks (TENs). Experience with electrical substations, microgrids, and electrical distribution systems. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across planning, engineering, and design phases.
