The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, moving away from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources. At the same time, the risks posed by climate change and aging infrastructure requires an array of dynamic and innovative solutions to deliver resilient utility services. This energy transition is still in its early stages, and presents significant technical, logistical, and market challenges. Decarbonization will require detailed planning, multi-disciplinary collaboration, significant financial resources, and motivated staff to support successful implementation. Jacobs is expanding our Energy & Power team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.
There is an upward trending pressure on the renewables industry to provide reliable baseload power. Jacobs has assessed that the geothermal market in North America has an emerging surge of interest across geothermal power generation, direct use for process industries, district heating and ground source heat pump technologies driven by decarbonization of almost all sectors.
The North America Geothermal Project Engineer role will require significant geothermal power plant experience and strong personal networks within the geothermal industry to support our North America Geothermal team with business development activities and project delivery. Here's what you'll need
The base salary range for this position is $170,400.00 to $223,725.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

- Promote Jacobs’ North America Geothermal team capabilities amongst personal client network
- Support proposal development with task descriptions and manhour estimates
- Provide advisory and design solutions for geothermal project development and technical delivery as part of our geothermal team
- Collaborate with our Technical Leadership, Operations, Client Account Managers and sales professionals
- Support global geothermal engineering teams on projects requiring power plant expertise
- Mentor Jacobs power plant engineers in the nuances of geothermal design
THIS ROLE CAN SIT IN ANY OF OUR JACOBS OFFICE LOCATIONS, NATIONWIDE
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in geothermal power plant engineering
- Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work, and then deliver innovative solutions providing value to both the client and provider
- Demonstrated skills on concept and developed design optimization programs to guide sound technical guidance for decision making
- Experience with types of geothermal power generation including binary, flash, dry steam, combined cycle, etc.
- Experience in all aspects of project development and delivery including but not limited to feasibility studies, cost estimating, conceptual and detailed engineering design, commissioning support, Owner’s engineering, plant upgrades post-commissioning, due diligence, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multi-discipline engineering teams
