We are seeking a motivated and multidisciplinary early-career professional to join our Ports & Maritime (P&M) team in the US Northwest region. This new role will provide critical support for sustainability and climate-related initiatives within the Ports & Maritime group and related transportation markets.
Ports are facing growing expectations and needs for improving their environmental footprints whilst delivering increased resilience against future operating scenarios. The balance between environmental mitigation and adaption is challenging, and requires informed decision-making through clarity of regulatory changes, insight into emerging technologies and technical understanding of scientific practices. Overlayed onto this is a need to truly understand Ports business and operations.
As part of our Adaptation and Efficiency division you will gain unique understanding and knowledge of Port operations and how they need to change in the coming years to achieve mitigation and adaption goals. You will provide technical support to projects focused on developing greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emissions inventories, environmental impact management, climate adaptation and resilience planning, decarbonization roadmaps, and other sustainability strategies. Primary Job Responsibilities
The base salary range for this position is $66,900.00 to $117,100.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with GHG and air emissions accounting and reporting for ports and maritime projects.
- Support development of climate adaptation and resilience measures for critical infrastructure and operations.
- Contribute to environmental assessments, Net Zero and decarbonization roadmap and sustainability strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions on time and within scope.
- Help research and identify emerging technologies for emissions tracking and reduction.
- Participate in internal initiatives to advance Jacobs’ sustainability and climate offerings in the Ports & Maritime sector and other transport markets.
- Apply innovation and forward-thinking approaches to problem solving
- Analyze quantitative data sets to inform decision-making

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Project support within a multi-disciplinary and multi-geographic environment.
- Greenhouse Gas and Air Emission Inventory development
- Support business development and sales activities, including proposal development and solutions for the Ports and Maritime group.
- Support the development of client deliverables included reports, emissions inventories, and excel-based tools.
- Support new and innovative approaches to problem solving such as in-house tool development and framework implementation.
- Support external engagement opportunities such as at conferences, thought leadership pieces and presentations.
- Collaborate across the Jacobs business to deliver cutting-edge solutions that intertwine multiple disciplines.
- Oversee the delivery of subtasks within a project.
- Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems.
- Support client pursuits through technical sustainability-related inputs into bids, supporting distinctive value propositions and win plans that and ensuring bid documents are consistent with these.
- Develop high-quality opportunity-specific response documents with competitive and compelling sales messages to satisfy client business goals.
- Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in working environment
- Interest in growing understanding of the port and terminal market and trends, including electrification, decarbonization, resiliency and sustainable solutions.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate findings clearly.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with GHG accounting tools or environmental regulations
- Experience or familiarity in developing GHG and Air Emissions inventories
- Comfortable in working and communicating with multi-disciplinary teams teams within fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to network throughout the Jacobs organization, nationally and internationally, to deliver the best results for our clients, our staff, and our projects,
- Strong organisational, management and research skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Good verbal, presentation and written communication, and report writing skills
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to establish and meet deadlines/budgets.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills to engage in meetings, facilitate and build relationships across operational and sales teams
- The ability to travel within the US and internationally.
- Experience or familiarity in performing Life Cycle Assessments in line with ISO standards is a plus
- Experience or familiarity in assessing opportunities for economic benefits from carbon offsetting, carbon credits, biodiversity net gain, emissions trading schemes and other ‘environmental or nature market solutions’ is a plus
