Reporting to the Sr. Director of Sustainable Winemaking, the Sustainability Analyst supports and advances Jackson Family Wines’ sustainability strategy with a strong focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, energy management, certifications, regenerative farming, and cross-functional project execution. The position blends technical analysis, project and data management, and stakeholder coordination to deliver measurable progress toward enterprise sustainability goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
Greenhouse Gas Accounting & Decarbonization
- Coordinate company-wide GHG Emission inventory, data collection, and verification in alignment with International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) and external standards.
- Analyze year-over-year emissions trends, identify drivers of change, and model potential reduction pathways.
- Support decarbonization initiatives across energy, fuel, packaging, and product transport, including emissions impact modeling of proposed projects.
- Maintain documentation and data workflows to support third-party audits and compliance reporting.
- Manage relationships with energy providers and partners related to billing, data accuracy, and performance monitoring.
- Monitor solar system performance, flag issues, and coordinate with facilities and vendors on maintenance and optimization.
- Perform financial and emissions analysis to support new solar installations, renewable diesel scaling, and load-shifting projects.
- Lead and support sustainability certification processes including audit preparation, site coordination, and documentation submission.
- Track compliance requirements and maintain organized records for internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical resource during audits and certification reviews.
- Collect, clean, validate, and manage sustainability data across vineyards, wineries, and supply chain activities.
- Collaborate with IT and Data & Analytics teams to improve data systems, automation, and dashboards for energy, emissions, and sustainability KPIs.
- Support development of internal dashboards and tools that improve visibility for leadership and site teams.
- Support regenerative farming, soil health, and biodiversity initiatives, including data collection, pilot projects, and working group coordination.
- Assist with carbon sequestration research, soil carbon modeling, and emerging land-sector accounting approaches.
- Help plan and execute employee volunteer events tied to biodiversity and land restoration goals.
- Coordinate sustainability projects with vineyard managers, winemaking and maintenance teams, procurement, and supply chain partners.
- Contribute technical inputs for sustainability communications, presentations, and internal/external reports.
- Represent the sustainability team in cross-functional meetings and working groups as a subject-matter contributor.
Essential Skills, Experience, And Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field.
- At least three years’ experience in sustainability strategy and project management.
- Expertise in sustainability certifications and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with experience managing large, multi-source datasets. Experience with AI tools preferred.
- Working knowledge of GHG accounting (Scopes 1–3) and sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Experience with energy management, utilities, or renewable energy projects preferred.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing multiple parallel projects.
