Hydrogen Fueling Station Field Technician
Hydrogen fueling for vehicles is changing the world, providing zero emissions transportation fuel with a path to 100% renewable transportation energy. Iwatani is a global leader in industrial gasses and hydrogen fueling having tremendous growth throughout California. The current stations are in both Northern and Southern California, with many more on the way throughout the region.
Iwatani is hiring safety-oriented and self-motivated individuals for our Hydrogen Fueling Station team. We are seeking candidates with hands-on experience maintaining equipment in any or all of the following areas:
Liquid Hydrogen
Cryogenic and/or compressed gases (CNG)
Refrigeration
Hydraulic systems
Electric motors
Instrument Air
Medium Pressure Hydrogen
12 and 24 VDC Electrical Systems
AC Electrical Power Systems
SCADA and PLC control systems
Point of Sale systems
Gas Compressors
Typical job duties will include the following:
Safety-focused hands on equipment maintenance in all of the above categories of equipment.
Complete responsibility of operations and maintenance of a fueling station. Requirement is to travel to the assigned HFS daily and for unplanned maintenance (call outs).
Perform daily remote data review to determine operational status and efficiency
Prioritize preventative and corrective maintenance based on site status, and uptime
Communicate and work closely with the Operations and Engineering Management teams regarding corrective actions and/or projects.
Coordinate and communicate with sub-contractors and vendors
Provide an excellent customer service experience to all HFS customers encountered
Required Skills and Experience
Safety leadership, and understanding that safety is the top priority
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience with hands on equipment maintenance
At least 2 years previous related or transferable experience
Ability to read, learn and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Bill of Materials, Electrical Schematics.
Experience with permit to work and hazardous work permit safety processes
Experience and training in lock out tag out work process
Understanding of the correct installation, operation and troubleshooting of various types of high-pressure and cryogenic valves, fittings, transmitters, and related components
Knowledge of, or ability to learn SCADA and PLC systems to remotely control equipment and perform diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Strong working knowledge of windows computer operation, email, calendar, Microsoft Office capabilities (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ability to bend, twist, and lift at least 25 lbs. in narrow spaces
Ability to work in varying outdoor climates
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
Willingness to work extended shifts as needed
Ability to interact with general public at hydrogen fueling stations and communicate equipment status based on Company policy and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Hands on experience in high pressure gas pipe system construction and maintenance
Experience working around flammable gasses
Experience in leak detection
Experience with high pressure cone and thread fittings and tube bending
Experience using plant historian, PLC data HMI
Military Experience
Associate or Bachelor's degree in technical field
Knowledge of NFPA 2, SAE J2601-1
Experience in one or more of the following: Military, oil and gas, aerospace, automotive gas stations, or construction
Experience in gas station, fueling systems (JP5, gasoline, diesel, CNG, hydrogen) construction or operations and maintenance
