Heavy Equipment Operator

Island Recycling Inc is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our team.  The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating various types of heavy equipment and machinery, ensuring efficient and safe operations on site.  This role requires a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve project goals.

DUTIES:

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steer, forklift etc
• Transfers loads, spreading and/or compacts in a productive and safe manner
• Conduct routine pre-operation and post operation inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other operators to coordinate tasks effectively
• Performs daily preventive maintenance on equipment
• Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and report any issues to management

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with excavators and loaders
• Equipment Operator's certification preferred
• Possess a valid driver license
• Strong operating skills
• Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on machinery
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Commitment to safety practices and procedures on the job site
• Willing to work weekends
• Reliable transportation
• Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
