Job Description


The role will be responsible for technical delivery, business development, and project management under the Solid Waste Management & Circular Economy vertical. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical alignment in solid waste management, resource recovery, and circular design to help expand the portfolio, secure new projects, and ensure high-impact project execution.


Details of responsibilities for this role are as below:


Technical Delivery

  • Lead the technical design, planning, and implementation of solid waste management (SWM), plastic waste management, and resource efficiency projects.
  • Provide strategic advisory and technical expertise on circular economy principles, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks, and sanitation infrastructure.
  • Travel to project locations to monitor technical execution, guide site teams, and interface directly with clients.
  • Direct comprehensive primary/secondary research, policy analysis, and data baselines for urban circularity initiatives.
  • Author and review high-quality technical reports, feasibility studies, detailed project reports (DPRs), and strategic presentations for senior government and multilateral stakeholders.
  • Manage the inputs, deliverables, and performance of key and non-key sector experts.
  • Lead critical client meetings, technical workshops, and high-level presentations.


Business Development

  • Identify emerging market trends, capture new business opportunities, and generate technical leads within the circular economy, waste management, and climate action sectors.
  • Evaluate REOIs, RFPs, and bid documents from international donors (World Bank, ADB, GIZ, BMGF, etc.) and domestic government entities.
  • Formulate technical proposals—specifically owning the development of robust Approach & Methodologies (A&M), technical work plans, and specialized collaterals.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with external firms, technology providers, and academic partners to structure competitive bidding consortia.
  • Actively engage in frequent travel across India for client liaising, networking, and pipeline development.


Project Management

  • Manage project budgets, cost control, invoicing, revenue recovery, and vendor/sub-consultant contracts, including payments.
  • Prepare project progress updates and management reports while monitoring project performance.
  • Resolve project, contractual, and client issues to ensure successful and timely project delivery.


Minimum Qualifications & Work Experience Required

  • Post-graduation in Environmental Engineering/ Civil Engineering/ Environment Science/ Planning/ Management/, or a related technical discipline is mandatory.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in international development consulting, environmental sustainability, or the urban infrastructure sector in India.
  • Proven track record in a technically aligned role executing solid waste management, plastic waste frameworks, or circular economy initiatives.
  • Strong background in leading business development efforts, capturing donor-funded bids, and managing multi-stakeholder consulting projects.
