Role Summary

IORA Ecological Solutions is seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 7–8 years of relevant post-qualification experience to lead and strengthen the organisation’s finance and accounting function. The Senior Manager, Finance will provide leadership across financial management, accounting, statutory compliance, taxation, budgeting, financial reporting, project finance, internal controls, systems and financial planning. The role will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership and will be an important finance partner in supporting IORA’s organisational growth and project portfolio.

The position combines strong technical finance and accounting responsibilities with systems strengthening, process improvement and an important external-facing role. The Senior Manager, Finance will serve as the primary finance interface with international donors, funding agencies, development partners and other external stakeholders, and will be expected to represent IORA with credibility and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Accounting
  • Lead end-to-end accounting operations and ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closure.
  • Review financial statements, ledgers, bank reconciliations and statutory records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking transactions, advances and other routine financial operations.
  • Ensure effective cash management and timely availability of funds for organisational and project requirements.
  • Provide financial oversight across IORA’s projects and programmes.
  • Statutory Compliance, Taxation & Audit
  • Oversee TDS, GST, Income Tax and other applicable statutory compliances, filings and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate statutory, internal, tax, donor and other audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Monitor changes in applicable financial and tax regulations and advise management on their implications.
  • Ensure robust financial documentation, audit trails and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Financial Planning, Budgeting & MIS
  • Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting and cash-flow planning.
  • Prepare and review monthly MIS, budget-versus-actual analysis, variance analysis and management reports.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Work with programme and project teams to prepare project budgets, monitor expenditure and manage financial performance.
  • Support financial modelling and analysis for new projects, partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Internal Controls, Systems & Process Improvement
  • Strengthen IORA’s internal financial controls, SOPs, approval workflows and financial governance systems.
  • Oversee accounting records in Tally/ERP and play a key role in the development and implementation of IORA’s new ERP and finance systems.
  • Drive process improvements, automation and standardisation across finance operations.
  • Ensure proper financial documentation and controls for procurement, payments, expenses, advances and project accounting.
  • Identify financial risks and strengthen systems for risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Project, Donor & Grant Finance
  • Provide financial oversight for externally funded projects, grants and partnerships, including budgeting, fund utilisation, financial reporting and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with donor-specific financial requirements, contractual obligations and reporting timelines.
  • Work closely with project teams and external partners to resolve financial issues and ensure effective financial management.
  • Support preparation of financial components of project proposals, budgets, funding applications and partnership agreements.
  • External Donor & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all finance-related matters with international donors, funding agencies, development partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Lead financial discussions with donors and partners on budgets, fund utilisation, financial reporting, audits, forecasts, amendments and financial queries.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, compelling and decision-oriented financial presentations and reports for donors, funders, partners and senior management.
  • Represent IORA in finance-related discussions with donors, funders, auditors, financial institutions and partners.
  • Support senior management in engagement with prospective funders and partners, including financial due diligence, financial modelling, proposals and negotiations.
  • Serve as a strong external face of IORA on financial matters, building confidence in IORA’s financial systems, controls and stewardship of funds.
  • Team Leadership & Organisational Support
  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team and promote a culture of accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to the CEO, senior management and project leads.
  • Build financial management capacity across non-finance teams.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external consultants on finance-related matters.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is essential.
  • Minimum 7–8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in finance and accounts, with experience in a role involving ownership of core finance functions.
  • Strong experience in financial management, accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, budgeting, financial reporting, audit management and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing or mentoring finance teams and working directly with senior management.
  • Experience in managing donor-funded projects, grants or partnerships, particularly with international donors or development agencies, is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a consulting firm, professional services organisation, research organisation, NGO/development organisation or sustainability-focused organisation is preferred.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting, TDS, GST, Income Tax, statutory compliance and audit requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, cash-flow management, MIS, variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable management insights.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, compelling financial presentations for donors, funders, partners and senior management.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP and advanced formulas; Power Query is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Tally, ERP systems or other accounting software, with an interest in process automation and digital finance systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
