Intertek is expanding its Sustainability & ESG capability across Australia and New Zealand, and we are seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Senior Sustainability Consultant.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further development of our sustainability consultancy services and help shape the future of one of Intertek’s fastest-growing practice areas.

You must be comfortable working individually and as part of the wider Business Assurance Team, comfortable engaging with senior personnel, collaborating with SMEs, and contributing your ideas and experience to provide consulting solutions that deliver meaningful impact.

The Opportunity

As a member of our Sustainability Consulting Practice, you will:

  • Work with our SMEs to provide expert guidance and assurance to help clients meet current and emerging sustainability expectations, driving measurable outcomes and lasting change.
  • Support the delivery of projects across sustainability subject areas, such as climate risk and resilience, carbon accounting and GHG verification support, sustainability strategy development and reporting, decarbonisation, and net-zero strategies, ESG and due diligence consulting projects, human-rights and modern-slavery due diligence, and responsible sourcing.
  • Prepare and deliver Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventories, emissions calculations, ESG data analysis, materiality assessments and limited assurance support activities aligned to recognised standards and methodologies.
  • Drive technical excellence through detailed research and analysis, representation at industry events and contribution to thought-provoking content in subject matter materials.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including identifying opportunities, participation in client meetings, preparing presentations and proposals.
  • Assist with proposal scoping, methodology development, effort estimation, stakeholder workshops, and client discovery activities for sustainability consulting engagements.


What we’re looking for:

Preferred experience across industries with significant ESG and climate disclosure obligations, including mining & resources, manufacturing, energy, retail, agriculture and infrastructure/construction.

  • Relevant degree, such as environmental/sustainability, engineering or economics (master’s degree is an advantage).
  • Technical capability and working knowledge across sustainability initiatives, frameworks, strategy and reporting, such as:
  • GRI, CDP, ISSB and ASRS
  • Working knowledge of broader sustainability and climate disclosure frameworks and requirements, including TCFD, TNFD and Australian Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (CRFD) legislation and implementation expectations.
  • Climate change risk and resilience assessments
  • Experience supporting climate scenario analysis, transition risk assessments and physical climate risk analysis aligned to ASRS and ISSB expectations.
  • GHG accounting & development of corporate carbon footprints
  • Experience applying the GHG Protocol, emissions factors and carbon accounting methodologies to prepare client-ready emissions inventories and reporting outputs.
  • Low carbon transition and decarbonisation approaches, carbon offsetting & residual emissions
  • Australian Modern Slavery Act and global due-diligence expectations
  • Understanding of ESG and sustainability due diligence expectations across supply chains, operational activities and supplier engagement frameworks.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to achieve high standards.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a consulting or professional services environment, including management of billable utilisation, accurate time recording and delivery against project budgets and deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to translate complex sustainability, climate and emissions data into practical commercial recommendations and client-ready reporting outputs.
  • A mindset focused on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support clients with practical implementation, improvement planning and operationalisation of sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives, beyond assessment and assurance activities.
