Company Description International Lifeline Fund is a nonprofit organization founded in 2003 and dedicated to solving urgent problems across the developing world through low-cost, scalable interventions that significantly improve quality of life. Since 2006, the organization has focused on communities in Northern Uganda, prioritizing access to clean water and clean energy. Lifeline's programs are innovative by design, and so is its organizational approach: team members are encouraged to "colour outside the lines." Role Description The Program Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Lira, responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of programs aligned with International Lifeline Fund's mission. The Program Director leads program design, sets objectives and deliverables, and ensures that projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with organizational standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising program staff, coordinating with local and international partners, monitoring field activities, and using data to inform program improvements. We don't believe in bosses — the Program Director serves as a mentor and guide to the team, fostering an environment where staff are supported and empowered to do their best work. The role involves preparing reports for internal leadership and donors, supporting grant management, and representing the organization in meetings with community leaders, government agencies, and other stakeholders. The Program Director also contributes to strategic planning, risk management, and the development of new initiatives to expand impact.

Qualifications

  • Program leadership and management experience, including overseeing multiple site and multiple partner programs.
  • Experience in community development, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), clean energy, or related sectors in low-resource settings.
  • Competence in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and coordination with government, NGOs, and community groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear written reporting and effective verbal communication across diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in team building, staff guidance, and mentorship, with a track record of developing strong, motivated teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Relevant experience working in Uganda; familiarity with Lira and surrounding regions is a plus.
  • Commitment to gender equity, non-discrimination, safeguarding, and ethical practices in program implementation.
  • Bachelor's degree in international development, public health, environmental studies, social sciences, or a related field; a master's degree is an advantage.
