If you’d like to use your analytical skills to help address two of the world’s most pressing environmental problems––air pollution and climate change––then this is a position you should consider. This internship provides undergraduate students, recent college graduates, and graduate students with the opportunity to enhance their current skills and to support their academic curriculum for careers in environmental and energy policy. Multiple internship positions are available. Depending on your interests and assigned projects, you will report to a Researcher or Model Developer in ICCT's Modeling Center.

You Will:

  • Develop code, conduct testing, and enhance documentation for Python-based models.
  • Contribute to research projects that quantify the potential impacts of transportation policies on pollutant emissions, energy consumption, air quality, health, or societal costs.
  • Collect and analyze datasets related to transportation and vehicle characteristics, and improve model inputs for emissions inventory, total cost of ownership, and/or electric vehicle charging needs models.
  • Track and compare environmental transportation policies adopted or proposed by national governments, states, and cities.

You Have:

  • A strong academic record in engineering, data science, economics, policy, transportation, or a related field in your current undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Interest in vehicle technology, climate change, air quality, energy, environment, public health, or related topics; familiarity with environmental and energy challenges in the transportation sector is preferred.
  • Proficiency in a programming language and data analysis, modeling, or data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, GIS, Tableau); familiarity with Python is required.
  • Interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and engage effectively with team members.

Our Benefits
