The Project Manager will support the Market Scaling team in driving New York's clean energy goals, coordinating across departments and with external partners such as utilities, school districts, vehicle manufacturers, and fleet operators. This role offers the opportunity to directly shape the future of sustainable transportation by ensuring fleets, communities, and service providers are equipped to successfully transition to electrified vehicles. This is a 1 year contracted role and the pay rate is $42-45/hr.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Electrification Project Management (35%)

  • Lead and track multiple projects focused on electrifying school buses, trucking fleets, and other medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Review project deliverables, monitor progress, and ensure successful and timely deployment of electrified vehicles and infrastructure.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project teams, including consultants, utilities, charging providers, and fleet operators.

  • Identify and resolve deployment challenges, ranging from vehicle procurement to charging site development.

Stakeholder Engagement & Market Development (25%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including school districts, bus operators, fleet managers, utilities, and community organizations.

  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to fleets transitioning to electric vehicles.

  • Support market development efforts by identifying new opportunities, co-funding sources, and partnerships that expand access to clean transportation.

  • Promote equitable electrification by ensuring disadvantaged communities benefit from fleet transformation initiatives.

Contracting, Procurement & Financial Oversight (15%)

  • Manage procurement processes related to fleet electrification and charging infrastructure.

  • Coordinate with legal, finance, and operations teams to move contracting actions through approvals.

  • Track budgets, incentives, and program expenditures, ensuring financial accountability and identifying risks of under- or over-spending.

Data, Metrics & Knowledge Management (15%)

  • Collect and analyze key metrics such as number of vehicles electrified, charging infrastructure deployed, and community participation.

  • Prepare reports and communications highlighting project progress, emissions reductions, and market impacts.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge management systems (SharePoint, Salesforce, Asana) with current data and program documentation.

Cross-Team Coordination & Strategic Initiatives (10%)

  • Coordinate with related clean energy programs such as NYS Clean Heat and utility electrification initiatives to ensure alignment.

  • Support the development of new strategies and initiatives to scale fleet electrification across New York.

  • Assist senior staff in preparing presentations, memos, and briefings for external partners and decision-makers.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or transportation), environmental science, sustainability, or related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • Experience: 3–6 years of relevant professional experience in project management, clean energy, transportation, or infrastructure deployment.

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision, balancing multiple priorities.

  • Strong knowledge of clean transportation technologies, including electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and grid integration.

  • Experience working with utilities, fleets, or school districts strongly preferred.

  • Strong IT system fluency, with ability to learn platforms such as Salesforce, NEIS, and Asana quickly.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desired Attributes
  • Passionate about accelerating the transition to clean transportation and reducing emissions from medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to anticipate and address barriers to electrification.

  • Effective communicator, able to translate technical information into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

  • Commitment to equity, ensuring clean energy benefits are shared across all communities.
