Annual Leave: 28 days inclusive of bank holidays

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum (based on industry experience)

We are one of the leading plumbing, heating and electrical companies nationally, serving residential and commercial clients throughout South East England with almost three decades in the industry, we have worked to build a large, fully equipped team of over 150 members of staff – all focused on providing the best quality service to our customers. We work closely with various known housing associations, local councils as well as catering to the private sector such as schools, hotels, care homes and commercial building.


Role Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Head of Governance, the Environmental & Supply Chain Coordinator will support the day-to-day operation and continual improvement of the environmental management and supply-chain control framework. The role combines environmental coordination, supplier and subcontractor assurance, purchasing and cost controls, waste and materials management, data analysis, management reporting and support for the company ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).


This is a graduate / early-career development role. The postholder is not expected to arrive with full independent ownership experience across every area of the specification. Mentorship, structured on-the-job coaching and role-specific training will be provided where required. The expectation is that the successful candidate will build competence quickly and take increasing responsibility as knowledge and confidence develop.


The postholder will also support the company programme to establish an organisational greenhouse-gas inventory and reporting framework aligned with ISO 14064-1, helping the business progress towards consistent, evidence-based and externally verifiable carbon reporting.


Success in the role will depend on curiosity, accuracy, initiative and follow-through. The postholder should be comfortable working with data, asking questions, investigating discrepancies, maintaining evidence and escalating risks or delays rather than allowing actions to drift.


Core accountabilities:

  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System coordination
  • Support the ISO 14064-1 greenhouse-gas reporting programme

  • Purchasing, purchase-order and financial control
  • Materials, unused parts, van audits, stock and waste control
  • Data analysis, Excel and management reporting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day coordination and continual improvement of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, including documentation, audits, corrective actions, compliance records and management reporting.
  • Support development of ISO 14064-1 greenhouse-gas inventory and reporting framework, including data collection, emission calculations, source records and dashboards.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List, supplier due diligence, compliance records, performance ratings, reviews and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate supplier and subcontractor onboarding, assurance, performance monitoring and offboarding.
  • Support purchasing and financial controls, including purchase orders, invoice queries, credits, rebates, recoveries and cost discrepancies.
  • Coordinate materials, unused parts, stock, engineer van audits, PPE and waste controls.
  • Analyse supplier spend, purchasing, labour, materials, waste, carbon and operational data to identify cost savings, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Build and maintain Excel trackers, dashboards and management reports, ensuring data is accurate, reconciled and supported by evidence.
  • Monitor environmental performance covering fuel, energy, waste, packaging, chemicals, refrigerants and spill prevention.
  • Maintain audit-ready records and support customer, accreditation and compliance portals.
  • Coordinate relevant training, supplier meetings, audits and operational reviews.


About You:

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in environmental management, sustainability, supply chain, procurement, business/operations, data/analytics, engineering, geography or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in environmental management, sustainability, supply chain or operational improvement.
  • Good practical Excel and data-analysis skills, including formulas, lookups, PivotTables, data cleaning and reporting.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines and follow actions through.
  • Ability to investigate problems, analyse information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Professional communication skills and confidence working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work fully from the Harrow Weald office; hybrid or remote working is not available.


Desirable

  • Exposure to ISO 14001, ISO 14064-1, carbon accounting or sustainability reporting.
  • Experience or knowledge of procurement, supplier management, waste compliance or environmental legislation.
  • Power Query, Power BI, Power Pivot or advanced Excel experience.
  • Relevant placement, internship, dissertation or project experience.
  • Membership of IEMA, CIPS, IoSCM or a similar professional body.
