Location: First project in Robstown, TX followed by a project in Houston, TX
Short 3-month contract to hire
Pay: $60-$75/hour
Overview
Our client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and review of industrial plant systems within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on equipment and utility systems that keep operations running, not building HVAC.
Day to Day
- Review and validate mechanical designs and system layouts
- Work with process and utility systems across the plant
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams
- Support troubleshooting and performance improvements for plant systems
- Assist with equipment readiness, startup, and commissioning
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with multiple of the following: Pumps, Compressors, Cooling systems (cooling towers or chilled water), Heat exchangers, Fluid or gas systems, Water or wastewater systems
- Experience supporting or understanding plant systems (not just components)
Bonus Skills & Experience
- Experience reviewing P&IDs or system layouts
- Equipment sizing, selection, or technical review experience
- Exposure to commissioning, startup, or troubleshooting
- Experience working in EPC or design environments
