Location: Reno, NV - Full-Time, PERM

  • 5 days a week, M/F with one day WFH

Salary : $115,000-$125,000

Job Description:

One of Insight Global's clients is looking for an Environmental Permitting to support one of our renewable energy clients in Reno, NV. The Environmental Permitting Manager will report to the Director, Business Development. The Environmental Permitting Manager will be focused on permitting in support of exploration, development, and construction of their renewable energy projects.

Must Haves:

  • Education: Bachelor's in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Experience: 5+ years in project permitting and environmental review within power generation, oil and gas, energy, utility, mining, or heavy industry (that’s about how long it takes to get permitting from beginning to end for a project )
  • Deep knowledge of NEPA and CEQA regulations
  • Experience working with Federal, State, and local agencies
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%).

Day to Day:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project or Smartsheet, and ArcGIS.
  • Plan out what permits are needed for each renewable energy project.
  • Fill out and submit applications to get those permits approved.
  • Work with consultants and internal teams to gather the right info and meet deadlines.
  • Talk to government agencies to make sure the project follows all rules. These include:
  • Federal agencies like the EPA, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and Bureau of Land Management.
  • State agencies like environmental departments, water boards, and wildlife offices.
  • Local agencies like city planning departments and county boards.
  • Tribal governments if the project affects tribal lands or cultural sites.
  • Negotiate permit conditions to make sure they’re fair and doable for the company.
  • Keep track of progress and report updates to leadership.
  • Visit project sites occasionally to check on things or meet with officials.
  • Review technical documents and make sure everything is accurate and complete.
  • Build relationships with regulators, consultants, and community stakeholders.
  • Stay organized and manage multiple projects at once using tools like Excel, Smartsheet, and ArcGIS.
