The Chief Engineer leads all engineering and maintenance operations for a commercial property, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable building performance. This role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership, vendor coordination, and strategic planning.

You’ll oversee daily operations of all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety), manage and develop the engineering team, and ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies. The Chief Engineer also manages preventive maintenance programs, supports budgeting and utility management, coordinates contractors, and responds to building emergencies as needed.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a customer-focused mindset, with approximately 50% hands-on engineering responsibilities and occasional on-call or shift coverage.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial property operations or a related field
  • (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Proven management or team leadership experience
  • Vocational or technical training certificate

Compensation:

$83,000 to $93,000 per year annual salary.
