Position Overview

Position: Construction Materials Testing Project Manager

Company: Terracon

Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Location: Richmond, VA

Day to Day:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned engineering projects to ensure on-time, on-budget, and within-scope delivery
  • Define project scope, schedule, and budget in collaboration with clients or NAMs
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, schedules, and forecasts
  • Lead and model safety practices; ensure compliance with approved safety plans
  • Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize delays
  • Coordinate staffing, resources, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Prepare calculations, designs, reports, and work specifications as needed
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare status reports for clients and internal teams
  • Coordinate with APR to ensure oversight and reviews at critical project milestones
  • Partner with accounting on invoicing, financial tracking, and collections
  • Monitor project risks, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related technical discipline OR 9+ years of related experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of project management experience in facilities, materials, environmental, or geotechnical engineering
  • Experience managing small to medium-sized engineering projects end-to-end
  • Strong knowledge of project scope, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proven experience leading safety efforts and complying with safety plans
  • Ability to coordinate internal teams, external vendors, subcontractors, and contractors
  • Experience with invoicing, change orders, and collections
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
