Production Supervisor
Position: Group Leader
Duration: 12 mo contract (possible extensions/perm)
Location: Lockport, NY
PR: $30-35/hr depending on years of experience
Shifts: 1st, 2nd & 3rd – frequent weekend work, expect up to 7 days a week
Must Haves:
- 2+ years of people leadership or managerial experience
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing or operational environment
- Proven ability to solve complex problems, make decisions, and manage priorities
- Strong interpersonal and conflict‑management skills
- Basic computer skills (email, Word, data entry/typing)
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and frequent weekends
- Ability to work in a loud, non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing environment
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs periodically
Plusses:
- Automotive or manufacturing experience
- Experience supervising in a union environment
- Background in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement (CIP), or TIP
- Experience supporting Quality, Supply Chain, or Production functions
- Built‑In Quality initiatives or DFSS / Red X certification
- Knowledge of timekeeping systems
- Military leadership experience
Job Summary:
A large OEM in Lockport, NY is looking for a Group Leader (Manufacturing) to be responsible for leading hourly teams in a manufacturing environment to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production operations. This role supports Production, Quality, or Supply Chain functions and requires hands‑on leadership in a fast‑paced, union manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations, adjusting plans as needed
- Drive performance across Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE)
- Supervise and develop hourly employees; manage performance, accountability, and conflict resolution
- Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Oversee problem solving, quality inspections, and built‑in quality initiatives
- Support continuous improvement, standardized work, and process discipline
- Manage change and ambiguity in a high‑volume, fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Ensure compliance with safety rules, policies, and PPE requirements
- Work rotating shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and weekends as required
