Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a Building Engineer for a commercial real estate client with a growing portfolio across South Florida. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing day-to-day operations across multiple properties including office spaces, retail centers, and warehouses. The role is highly hands-on and ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping properties clean, functional, and visually appealing. This engineer will handle general repairs, support tenants with basic needs, and ensure all properties remain safe and well-maintained. The position offers a dynamic, active work environment with a mix of indoor and outdoor responsibilities, along with the option of a company vehicle or car stipend.

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in:
  • General handyman work
  • Apartment/commercial maintenance
  • Groundskeeping or janitorial/cleaning work
  • Hands-on experience using:
  • Power tools (drills, saws)
  • Outdoor equipment (leaf blowers, pressure washers)
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor daily
  • Comfortable working outdoors in South Florida heat
  • Strong reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently

Plusses:

  • Experience maintaining commercial properties (office, retail, warehouse)
  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, and drywall/painting experience
  • Experience working directly with tenants or customer service mindset
  • Prior experience prepping vacant units or turnover work
  • Familiarity with safety inspections and facility compliance checks

Day-to-Day:

  • Conduct routine inspections (daily/weekly/monthly) across properties
  • Perform general maintenance:
  • Drywall patching, painting, light carpentry
  • Basic plumbing fixes (clogs, fixtures)
  • Light electrical (bulbs, minor fixes)
  • Maintain curb appeal:
  • Trash removal, debris cleanup
  • Pressure washing, leaf blowing
  • Light landscaping upkeep
  • Respond to tenant requests and minor work orders
  • Prepare vacant units for new tenants (cleaning, painting, repairs)
  • Escort vendors and contractors onsite as needed
  • Perform safety checks (lighting, exits, fire equipment)
