Engineering Project Manager (Construction / Environmental)

Location: Vacaville, CA (Multiple Sites)

Contract: 3–6 Month Contract (with strong potential to convert to full-time within 3 months)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to provide immediate construction oversight support for multiple active projects in the Vacaville, CA area. This role is critical due to an unexpected full-time vacancy and upcoming project kickoffs. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction execution experience within landfill and environmental infrastructure projects and be comfortable managing work across multiple field locations.

Must-Have Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in construction project management
  • 7–10 years of total experience in construction construction or engineering environments.
  • Proven construction experience specifically with:
  • Landfill liners
  • Landfill gas systems
  • Final cover systems
  • Strong design expertise related to landfill operations and environmental controls.
  • Experience managing building refresh / tenant improvement projects , including renovations within existing structures.
  • Background in commercial or corporate construction environments .
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects with $1–$5M construction budgets .
  • Strong focus on construction execution , overseeing work performed within an established budget (no budget allocation responsibilities).

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities across multiple project sites in the Vacaville area, with primary focus at:
  • A Road Landfill
  • Additional site east of Vacaville and south of Dixon
  • Secondary construction project located in Novato, CA (within ~20 miles)
  • Split time between field-based project oversight and the Dixon, CA office , where the broader team reports.
  • Manage contractor performance to ensure:
  • Work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design and environmental standards
  • Construction schedules remain on track
  • Quality and scope expectations are met
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site construction coordination and issue resolution.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to stakeholders, ensuring visibility into progress, risks, and next steps.
  • Support transition planning and documentation to enable a smooth conversion to a full-time role if applicable.

Tools & Technology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with MS Project and Bluebeam preferred (flexible based on experience)

Additional Details

  • Reporting Structure: Dixon, CA office with regular presence at 1–2 active field sites.
  • Conversion Opportunity: This role is expected to transition to a full-time position within approximately 3 months, based on performance and business need.
