Production Supervisor
Position: Production Supervisor
Location: East Chicago, IN
Max Salary: $100,000/year
Shift Work: 3 days on 3 off, 12-hour shifts
ABOUT THE ROLE
To supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the plant, meeting all safety, quality and production targets
as indicated by the company.
Required Work Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years related experience in a supervisory role
- Experience in a cement plant, steel or iron producing plant
- High School Diploma
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
● Directs the daily activities of employees working in the plant.
● Responsible for the safety of employees in the plant with constant follow up throughout the day.
● Be a safety leader and drive housekeeping efforts in the plant.
● Create work orders and pass information over to plant maintenance personnel.
● Able to navigate and work billing system for shipping needs.
● Ensures Production equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner and is routinely inspected for
defects (follow up on all check sheets).
● Suggests improvements for the operation and pass this information over to the Production/Shipping
Manager.
● Creates weekly schedules to meet Production needs.
● Works closely with Maintenance to schedule equipment operations, cleaning and downtime.
● Completes daily Visual Emission checks and document findings.
● Complete the daily Supervisor check sheet to ensure all equipment functions properly. Report findings to
Supervisor as needed.
● Ensure effective troubleshooting of any problems in the department using direct reports and ensure
problems are repaired as quickly as possible to minimize downtime and/or upsets.
● Works with Production/Shipping Manager to set plans to operate within budget.
● Meet environmental requirements including fugitive dust.
● Understands the union labor agreement for the plant and works effectively within this agreement.
● Compliance with all safety policies, procedures and applicable laws.
● Proper reporting on accidents / incidents assuming follow-up as per procedure.
● Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets and
limits), as they pertain to this position.
● Example of policies can be found in the quality assurance manual.
● Ensure mill operation is within agreed upon specs for Quality.
● Do follow-up on out of spec material and corrective actions taken to bring back into specs.
● Complete employee evaluations and follow up on all employees working on your shift.
Compensation:
Up to $100,000/year
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
