Location: Austin, TX or Houston, TX

Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as the mechanical design lead for large‑scale industrial and manufacturing infrastructure projects. This role sits within the client's in‑house EPC team and owns mechanical design from concept through IFC , supporting fast‑paced, high‑impact builds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for HVAC and process systems, including wet (chilled/cooling water) and dry (air/exhaust) systems
  • Own design development from concept, permitting, and IFC construction drawings
  • Interface with external EPC partners to ensure designs meet engineering standards
  • Make independent engineering decisions and provide technical direction to internal and third‑party engineers
  • Present designs at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC design reviews
  • Support quantity take‑offs and high‑level cost estimates
  • Mentor junior engineers and communicate effectively across cross‑functional teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) with NCEES record (or ability to obtain TX license)
  • 10+ years of HVAC and mechanical/process systems design experience
  • Background in industrial, manufacturing, mission‑critical, or high‑tech facilities
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, ICC, NFPA, ASME)
  • Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and HVAC load software
