About the Company The Senior Project Manager (Contract) is responsible for leading complex internal and external projects that advance a nuclear energy company’s technology. This role plays a critical part in the product realization process, overseeing projects that often involve first-of-a-kind (FOAK) activities, significant technical risk, and long-term strategic value. The project manager ensures successful execution of scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets while coordinating across multiple departments to deliver customer-focused outcomes. This is a contract position beginning in October 2026 and running through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The project manager must be adaptable to evolving priorities, capable of building trust-based relationships across the organization, and demonstrate dependability in meeting project and organizational expectations. A strong safety and quality mindset is essential, as is the ability to influence and model best practices for peers and teams. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned SMR development projects in alignment with the company’s policies, procedures, and quality standards. Establish and maintain project baselines, earned value management, and execution strategies documented in a comprehensive Project Management Plan. Communicate project requirements, progress, and priorities to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment across engineering, construction, procurement, and regulatory stakeholders. Coordinate resource assignments and authorize work through collaboration with organizational leadership, ensuring proper expertise is applied to complex project tasks. Proactively identify risks, issues, and challenges; and escalate when necessary to maintain project momentum and performance. Deliver regular performance reports to leadership and stakeholders, including earned value metrics, cost and schedule variance analysis, and risk/issue resolution updates. Develop and maintain project-specific procedures, ensuring efficient and consistent execution in line with nuclear industry standards. Uphold the company’s safety culture, emphasizing high standards of safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a related discipline. At least 10 years of experience in project management, ideally with large-scale, complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and technical disciplines. Proven expertise in nuclear industry project management, including familiarity with reactor design, nuclear steam supply systems (NSSS), ASME and/or I&C. Demonstrated application of PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) principles and earned value management practices (ANSI EIA-748-C). Experience leading licensed nuclear design projects, specifically with knowledge of pressurized water reactor (PWR) designs. Background in the energy sector, including power plant architecture/engineering, engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), or other nuclear/energy-related projects. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred. Experience in managing technically complex, high-value, and high-risk projects. Deep understanding of nuclear technology development. Experience guiding multi-year FOAK projects from design through deployment.
