Job Title: Construction Safety Professional
Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Construction Safety Professional to lead workplace safety efforts on construction projects, with a strong focus on solar installations and renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across project teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific health and safety plans, policies, and procedures.
· Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance gaps.
· Prepare and maintain thorough documentation of safety audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
· Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.
· Lead and support incident and accident reporting processes, including immediate response, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and submission of required documentation.
· Track and analyze safety performance metrics, preparing reports for management, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations, as well as company safety standards.
· Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all phases of construction.
· Lead emergency response planning, training, and drills.
· Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field preferred but not required
· 3+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in renewable energy, utilities, or heavy construction.
· OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification required; CSP, CHST, or equivalent credential strongly preferred.
· Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other safety standards.
· Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
· Ability to work in outdoor, construction-site environments with frequent travel as needed.
· Demonstrated ability to build a positive safety culture and effectively influence diverse teams.
Plus Skills
· Experience with solar or renewable energy construction projects.
· Familiarity with fall protection, electrical safety, crane/rigging operations, and trenching/excavation hazards.
Work Environment
· Construction job sites, both active and in development.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, and heavy equipment.
· Travel between project sites is required.
