The Opportunity

We are seeking an Australia-based Analyst to conduct research on companies and industry associations using our LobbyMap methodology, which assesses the corporate sector's advocacy and engagement with government policy to address the climate crisis. The role will be critical to driving forward InfluenceMap’s strategy in the region, helping ensure our platforms and analysis are well understood and widely used, and advancing science-based climate and nature policies at the Australian level.

Our approach is highly data-oriented, emphasizing accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail. Full training in our research methods and in effectively communicating our results will be provided. You will need to apply analytical rigor, communicate complex ideas clearly, and contribute to innovative engagement strategies to maximize impact with our key stakeholders.

This role is intended for someone at an early stage of their career with a research or policy background, who is motivated to gain practical experience in climate and sustainability and to build skills in engaging with senior stakeholders. The position is best suited to candidates with limited prior professional experience (typically up to three years), ideally in a people- or B2B-facing role.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will apply analytical rigour while helping to drive meaningful stakeholder engagement with InfluenceMap’s research in Australia. Key responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Conduct rigorous, data-driven analysis on how Australian companies, industry associations, and financial institutions influence climate and nature policy, using InfluenceMap’s platforms and methodologies.
  • Produce high-quality profiles, briefings, and other analytical outputs that inform investors, businesses, policymakers, NGOs, the media, and other stakeholders on the corporate climate policy landscape.
  • Proactively organize collaboration opportunities across this diverse range of stakeholders, and communicate complex findings clearly and convincingly to maximise the impact of InfluenceMap’s research.

Requirements

To be successful in this role at InfluenceMap, you should have:

  • Outstanding analytical and data analysis skills, with a very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex issues and data-driven analysis convincingly
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Outreach and engagement skills, ideally with a year or more of experience in successful stakeholder engagement
  • Australian policy knowledge: Understanding of Australian policymaking institutions and processes, particularly related to climate and sustainability
  • IT and software skills across a range of common applications
  • Right to work in Australia
