Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician / Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician / Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for the installation, configuration, optimisation, maintenance, and support of integrated building automation and control systems in commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical experience with controls platforms and protocols, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a service-oriented team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission BMS hardware and software across a range of commercial and industrial facilities.
- Program and support building automation controllers and interfaces, including protocols such as BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, and Niagara frameworks.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve controls and automation issues in HVAC and related systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system health checks to ensure reliable, energy-efficient operation.
- Support service calls, emergency response, and customer site visits as required.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technical teams for project execution and problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, service reports, and field activities.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in building automation systems, controls, or mechanical systems integration.
- Hands-on experience with BMS programming, diagnostics, and field implementation.
- Familiarity with common BAS/BMS platforms and communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, LonWorks, Niagara, Distech, Siemens, etc.).
- Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and respond to field service demands.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites within the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or certifications in Electrical, Controls, Building Automation, or related discipline.
- Experience with commercial HVAC systems and integration with BMS.
- Training or certification in Tridium Niagara, Siemens Talon, Distech Controls, or similar environments.
