About the role

As IIX scales multiple donor-funded projects across departments and geographies, this role ensures operational excellence, compliance, and timely delivery of project outputs. The SVP will serve as the COO’s operations integrator—harmonizing project management systems, driving cross-functional alignment, and proactively identifying risks and bottlenecks across all donor projects.

This role complements Project Directors and functional heads by strengthening operational oversight, establishing consistent project management standards, and enabling efficient, high-quality execution within a fast-paced, impact-driven environment.

Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities

1. Cross-Project Oversight & Coordination

  • Maintain a consolidated portfolio view of all donor-funded projects, including timelines, budgets, KPIs, procurement, risks, and reporting milestones.
  • Work closely with each Project Director to ensure alignment between project requirements and organizational processes.
  • Identify cross-project dependencies, overlaps, and opportunities for synergy (e.g., shared resources, uniform reporting tools).
  • Lead regular cross-functional project coordination meetings with Finance, HR, Impact Measurement, Risk, and other teams.

2. Operational Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all donor-funded projects adhere to operational, procurement, audit, and compliance requirements (e.g., DFAT, KOICA, GAC).
  • Collaborate with Finance on budget monitoring, contract compliance, expenditure tracking, and audit documentation readiness.
  • Standardize and maintain project management SOPs across IIX to ensure consistency and reduce ad hoc variation.

3. Monitoring of Deliverables & Performance Management

  • Track project deliverables, milestones, and KPIs against donor agreements and approved workplans.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards that provide the COO and senior leadership with real-time visibility on project progress, risks, and performance indicators.
  • Support Project Directors in preparing for donor reviews, steering committees, and periodic reporting cycles.

4. Risk Management & Issue Resolution

  • Proactively identify operational, financial, staffing, and compliance-related risks across projects and support mitigation planning.
  • Serve as an escalation point for Project Directors facing operational challenges such as resourcing constraints, partner delays, or execution bottlenecks.

5. Internal Capacity Building & Coaching

  • Strengthen the capabilities of Project Directors and project teams on project management standards, compliance, reporting, procurement, and operational processes.
  • Lead onboarding and capacity-building sessions for new Project Directors to ensure alignment with IIX’s project management frameworks.

Preferred Qualification & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in project management or operations management, preferably with multi-country exposure.
  • Strong preference for hybrid sector experience, such as:
  • Donor-funded projects combined with corporate or operational roles
  • Social enterprises or impact investing portfolios
  • Management consulting managing multi-stakeholder, multi-country projects
  • Corporate/tech project management with cross-functional and international scope
  • Familiarity with donor compliance and grants management is an advantage, but not required for candidates with strong project management fundamentals.
  • Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments where project execution intersects with strategy and impact.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and operational oversight capabilities.
  • Strong finance and accounting skills, with the ability to interpret budgets and financial reports.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Analytical problem-solver with experience using dashboards and data to drive decisions.
  • Comfortable operating within matrix structures and across multi-country teams.
  • Adaptable, with the ability to balance process rigor and flexibility to meet evolving strategic needs.
