In the built environment specifically, we offer a design-led approach to sustainability, using a systems-based model for accelerating the change required. Our focus is on Impact, working with the client to co-create strategies to deliver meaningful outcomes which add value where required. Impact must result in long-term resilience through immediate action. We understand a current imperative for clients is the climate crisis but we recognise our services need to include natural capital, resource management, climate resilience, human experience, and social impact.


The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a enthusiastic self-starter with experience delivering ESD solutions like carbon assessments (Scope1,2,3), decarbonization roadmaps, circularity, and navigating the evolving sustainability landscape in natural ecosystems.


You will work across a range of sectors, supporting clients in developing and implementing tailored sustainability solutions, ESD frameworks, and roadmaps that align with regulatory, stakeholder, and business priorities. This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of consulting services that lead to deeper engagements across carbon management, nature and biodiversity, circularity, and sustainable procurement.


We are open to candidates in Melbourne or Sydney.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide support delivering end-to-end ESD solutions in the Built Environment across multiple industries
  • Support the ESD team to deliver sustainable solutions with a focus on:
  • Carbon and decarbonisation pathways
  • Nature and biodiversity strategy
  • Circular economy and resource management
  • Responsible and sustainable procurement
  • Work collaboratively with internal specialists and external stakeholders to co-create practical, sector-specific sustainability solutions
  • Undertake research in emerging ESG trends, competitor analysis, sustainability policy changes, and reporting frameworks to inform strategic advice
  • Participate in client workshops, stakeholder engagements, and project presentations
  • Contribute to business development presentations and thought leadership in the sustainability advisory space


The candidate should bring passion and a point of view toward sustainable design, engaging staff across 7C companies to embed sustainability into projects and expand our relationship with clients.


Key Deliverables

  • Manage and deliver contribution to projects on time, to budget and specification
  • Identify clients, develop business and opportunities, support 7C companies in pursuing major projects and clients, maintain client relationships, and work to differentiate the 7C offering in the Australian market
  • Expand the technical capacity of the Impact Futures team in the Australian region by developing work opportunities and pipeline to support additional staff
  • Provide thought leadership as part of internal/external communications, including contributing to the Climate Playbook update, including 7C’s carbon footprint
  • Support multiple studios across time zones on projects and client development
  • Coordinate internal communications and reporting for sustainability initiatives


Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, engineering, architectural engineering, ecology, environmental science, or building science-related course of study. Advanced degree is preferred, with a specialist emphasis in sustainability, carbon, materials, or technology.
  • Experience working with or in sectors such as infrastructure, Insurance services, financial services, property, government, or energy;
  • Experienced in use of analysis or design software preferred, particularly Rhino, Adobe InDesign, Excel, Radiance/Ladybug/Honeybee, Pollination, Openfoam and Grasshopper.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sustainability consulting, (ESD)
  • Familiarity with Australian climate-related disclosure requirements and evolving corporate sustainability regulations
  • Familiarity with nature related reporting framework TFND and circular economy principles
  • Capability in climate risk/opportunity analysis preferred
  • Capability in scope 1,2 & 3 analysis and carbon accounting software preferred (one click or equivalent)
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Project management experience with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant qualifications in environmental science, sustainability, business, or related fields
  • Experience with collaborative working environments.
  • Experienced in use of analysis carbon, climate, energy and other related software.
  • Working knowledge of the Green Star and/or WELL rating systems and / or other sustainability rating system.
  • Experience with sustainable and ethical materials procurement and specifications, as well as embodied carbon modeling.
  • Green Star AP is preferred but not required. Commitment to become a qualified assessor is essential.
