The Opportunity

IES are currently looking for a number of Business Development Managers to join our growing business development team and help us deliver our services to clients such as building owners and facilities managers.

At IES we have been working in Climate Tech for the last 27 years and we consider the fight against Climate Change a moral imperative that drives all our decisions.

The “Intelligent Communities Lifecycle” (ICL) is our suite of interconnected tools which facilitates the planning, design and operation of energy-efficient and sustainable cities, communities, campuses, portfolios, buildings and local networks. The market for our products and services is vast and currently there is a lot of untapped potential.

You will be responsible for forming and building long-term relationships with clients, learning about the challenges they face and proposing consultancy services to help address their business challenges. Following a period of training and mentoring, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop the role and to reap rewards for their hard work.

The Candidates

You will already have a proven track record of developing new business in a related technical discipline. Alternatively, you will be working as a technical consultant or account manager and wish to develop your career in a more sales-oriented position.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Outstanding influencing and relationship-building skills from Executive level down
  • Professional presentation and communication skills
  • A proactive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop sustainable business and recurring revenue streams
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills needed to manage multiple requests with varying levels of importance and criticality

Construction industry experience and knowledge of at least one of the following domains would be desirable:

  • Sustainable building design
  • Decarbonisation of the built environment
  • Energy regulations, standards and voluntary rating schemes
  • Measurement and Verification of buildings for energy compliance
  • Digital technologies across the construction sector
  • City scale modelling for energy and urban design
  • Local energy systems and their distribution networks
  • Demand response and flexibility of local energy systems

This position will require regular travel throughout UK/Ireland. Occasional European/North American travel may also be required.
