This role will be working from our Glasgow office with hybrid and flexible working options available.

The Opportunity

We are presently looking to expand our SDIT reach across our Web, Cloud and Desktop product development teams, and so we are looking for enthusiastic SDITs to join our software development teams in Glasgow (remote considered). You will work with the latest technologies, learn something new every day and use your initiative to continuously improve our software products and services. In return, you will bring energy and a keen eye for quality to the table.

As a Software Developer in Test at IES, this is what you’ll do:

  • Work together with your fellow developers to improve the quality of our codebase and champion the adoption of best practices in testing, test automation, and process improvement
  • Work together with your fellow SDITs to harmonise and implement best practices and processes across the different teams and platforms
  • Drive forward our adoption of CI/CD pipelines (E.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps pipeline)
  • Improve and innovate upon our utilisation of automated-testing such as Selenium and WinAppDriver
  • Collaborate with our DevOps team to improve product quality, development team productivity, and process automation
  • Keep abreast of industry standards and best practices for testing methodologies and tools such as fuzzing, static analysis, crash and error logging, telemetry, and other solutions to benefit our customers

The Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • From a Software Development or Test Automation background and have good understanding of the OOPs concepts
  • A degree in computing, physics or a related scientific degree
  • Analytical and an ability to solve problems independently
  • Able to work as part of a development team, with multiple goals and deadlines
  • Enthusiasm for producing high quality product and services

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of software testing or software development
  • Experience of scripting tools and web-based technologies such as Python, shell scripting, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Desktop or cloud platform experience (Linux, Windows, Azure, AWS etc)
  • Knowledge of relevant unit or integration testing frameworks, CI/CD platforms, etc
  • Knowledge of automated UI testing
