This role will be working from our Glasgow or Dublin office with hybrid and flexible working options available.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Senior Software Developer in Test to join our development team in our Glasgow or Dublin. You will work with the latest technologies, learn something new every day and use your initiative.

As a Senior Software Developer in Test at IES, this is what you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end quality of the product
  • Automate tests (unit, integration, UI) to mitigate regressions
  • Define and implement test strategies for the product
  • Identify and investigate new tooling that will help the product meet quality goals
  • Actively pursue areas of inefficiencies and propose automated solutions to eliminate waste
  • Work with development team members to implement clean and maintainable test code
  • Mentor and coach junior developers in test across the organisation
  • Engage with the QA team to push forward the drive towards automated testing and continuous quality improvement

The Candidate

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of implementing automated tests in a commercial environment
  • Working knowledge of different testing methodologies and frameworks
  • Experience with JavaScript, C# or similar languages
  • Educated to degree level in computing, physics or a related scientific field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work as part of a development team, with multiple goals and deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Scrum

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of mentoring or coaching.
  • Experience of testing web applications.
  • Experience or interest in web technologies: Web APIs
  • JavaScript and React or other modern front-end frameworks
  • C# and .NET
  • Exposure to cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS or GCP)
