This role will be temporarily homebased due to COVID-19. Then subsequently working from our Glasgow or Dublin office with hybrid and flexible working options available.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will join our R&D - Emerging Technologies Team, developing state-of-the art code for advanced building physics simulation. The team employs mathematical modelling techniques & cutting age tools, to develop energy conservation and optimisation techniques including an intelligent building control system.

The role will be focused on development of code for analysing a range of building heat transfer mechanisms, air conditioning and renewable energy systems, natural ventilation, lighting, thermal comfort, energy consumption, carbon emissions and climate, and assess building performance against regulatory codes and standards in different countries.

The candidate

Skills and experience include the following:

Essential skills:

  • At least 3 years of full lifecycle cloud-based software development experience gained in a commercial or other environment
  • Be an experienced Full Stack .Net Developer with expertise in writing software in a range of languages, however, must have experience in .Net Core, C# and some of the other web development languages (Django/Flask, Nginx, HTML5, CSS3, any frontend JS frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Vue, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with the cloud technologies such as native Azure Web-dev stack, DevOps or similar services in AWS
  • Experience with REST API/ GraphQL / Web API creation, consumption, integration using Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Experience with Containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of microservices architecture
  • Experienced working in Agile development teams, test-driven development and continuous integration practices

Desirable skills:

  • Microsoft certification as Solution Developer or Architectural Design/Technologies will be an advantage
  • Science or Engineering graduate, with a good interest in scientific software development
  • Programming competence in Python and either C or C++
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and processing algorithms and interest in Big Data and Data Science
  • Knowledge of a version control tools, ideally Perforce
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio
