This role will be working from our Dublin or Glasgow office with hybrid and flexible working options available. From time to time, travel to our Glasgow/Dublin office will be required to collaborate with the wider design team.

Remote working from other locations will also be considered.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for an experienced UX Designer, with a strong product portfolio, who is passionate about product design. You will work closely with our product design teams in Dublin and Glasgow. You will be contributing towards the development of cutting-edge technology to facilitate the decarbonisation of the built environment by optimizing energy and resource consumptions from single buildings to cities.

As a UX Designer at IES, this is what you’ll do:

  • Research the company’s users and their goals, tasks, motivations, and expectations
  • Gather requirements from interviews with internal teams and clients
  • Facilitate design sprints, workshops and decision jams to document user journeys
  • Present reports and recommendations for product design teams
  • Sketch wireframes and prototypes to gather feedback from users
  • Help the design team deliver UI and Prototypes using a design system
  • Supporting other members of the product design team with priorities
  • Work cross-functionally to structure, build, and assemble a foundation for UX research that can be reused in the future
  • Contribute towards the development of Augmented Intelligence dashboards that will be used to educate building occupants and reduce energy consumption in residential buildings
  • Research how to influence occupant/user behaviour based on feedback and data presentation

The Candidate

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrable qualifications or degree in either HCI, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, UX Design, and/or related fields
  • Minimum 3-4 years solid experience in user research including Interviews, developing user stories, gather requirements, create scenarios, usability testing and expert analysis
  • Demonstrable UX design experience with a strong portfolio of products that have been brought to market
  • The ability to understand client needs and rapidly develop and propose practical yet innovative solutions
  • Team player with persuasive interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated application of user interface design principles and the user-centred design process, including user research techniques, both in creating wireframes, prototypes and discussing design decisions with the product teams
  • Demonstrated storytelling and presentation skills
  • Creative thinker
  • Ability to self-direct and desire for continual learning and personal development

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Agile and Scrum
  • Have some knowledge of sustainability/built environment/energy sector
  • Knowledge or awareness of React technologies and modern prototyping tools such as: Framer
  • Working knowledge of how compositions translate to HTML, JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) used to deliver feasible designs
