The Opportunity

We are looking for a Business Development Associate to join our growing business development team and help us deliver our services to clients such as building owners, building designers and facilities managers.

IES is a global climate tech company providing best-in-class digital twin technology and consultancy

The “Intelligent Communities Lifecycle” (ICL) is our suite of interconnected tools which facilitates the planning, design and operation of energy-efficient and sustainable cities, communities, campuses, portfolios, buildings and local networks. The market for our products and services is vast, and currently there is a lot of untapped potential.

The successful candidate will support the commercial growth of the company and help increase sales across the US.

They will be responsible for forming and building long-term relationships with clients, learning about the challenges they face and proposing consultancy services to help address their business challenges. Following a period of training and mentoring, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop the role and to reap rewards for their hard work.

This position will require travel throughout North America.

The Candidate

You will already have a proven track record of developing new business in a related technical discipline. Alternatively, you will be working as a technical consultant or account manager and wish to develop your career in a more sales-oriented position.

Essential Skills:

  • An interest in sustainability and the built environment
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Outstanding influencing and relationship-building skills from C-suite level downwards
  • Professional presentation and communication skills
  • A proactive attitude and ability to work independently
  • Ability to develop sustainable business and recurring revenue streams
  • Construction industry experience

Knowledge of at least one of the following domains would be desirable:

  • Sustainable building design
  • Decarbonisation of the built environment
  • Energy regulations, standards and voluntary rating schemes
  • Measurement and Verification of buildings for energy compliance
  • Digital technologies across the construction sector
  • City scale modelling for energy and urban design
