Job Purpose:

IDA strategy 2025 – 2029 identifies ‘Sustainability’ as a key growth driver for industry, and ‘Decarbonisation’ as an important structural force shaping competitiveness and the transition to a ‘Green Economy’. The sustainability team was established within IDA’s Client Transformation division to support a high-touch client engagement model, and to scale impact across industry.

Goals and Objectives for the Sustainability Department include; deliver client sustainability investments; deliver IDA’s carbon abatement target; manage delivery of IDA’s climate action goals; develop relevant knowledge and expertise to support sustainability policy.

In 2025 the team supported the delivery of 51 sustainability investments and 31 Green Capital investments delivering 95,000tnC02 abatement (3x 2024), with grant support of €135m (4x 2024), and €1.01bn in client capital expenditure (9x 2024). The team also works across IDA teams on internal training, works with DETE and DECC via various taskforces, and supports a number of national strategies and related national policy areas including but not limited to Circularity 2030 Strategy, Biodiversity Ireland and various National Climate Action Plan priorities.

This role presents a dynamic opportunity for individuals with a strong interest in sustainability, marketing, research, and strategic analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in engaging with major clients across diverse sectors, as well as with critical stakeholders across the broader ecosystem, with the primary objective of supporting clients in enhancing their environmental performance.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further development of the sector and especially in the context of the published Government National Climate Action Plan and the new IDA Strategy: Adapt Intelligently – IDA’s 2025-29 Strategy for Sustainable Growth and Innovation.

Key Tasks:

  • Collaborate proactively with IDA Operations teams to advance sustainability and Green Capital investments across the client portfolio.
  • Contribute to the preparation of strategic proposals for clients’ C-Suite, IDA Committees, the IDA Board, and relevant sub-committees.
  • Support the development, sharing and integration of sustainability knowledge across IDA’s global teams.
  • Build and apply a growing understanding of IDA’s sustainability value propositions.
  • Demonstrate insight into client transformation journeys and growth strategies.
  • Analyse client business plans to identify sustainability opportunities.
  • Collaborate creatively and effectively with internal and external teams to foster strong client relationships and deliver high-quality service and support.
  • Engage with decision-makers and stakeholder groups to support sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage multiple priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, with colleagues and clients.
  • Research and monitor emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities within the sustainability landscape.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing marketing events that promote sustainability initiatives.
  • Commit to continuous learning and development through formal and informal channels, including participation in the Performance Management and Development Review process.

Additional Requirements:

  • Third level qualification to a minimum Level 8.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or technical experience for sustainability related initiatives will be an important advantage.
  • This role will require international & domestic travel.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to show initiative, to work independently and on occasion to work outside of standard office hours.
  • Flexibility and interest in career progression overseas.
  • Demonstrated interest in personal development and continuous learning.
  • Adherence to Health & Safety legislation to protect and ensure employee safety at all times.
  • Full driving licence is an advantage.

Salary Scale:

€32,045 to €58,599 per annum contributory superannuation.

Rising by long service increments to €60,510 (after 3 years satisfactory service at the maximum of the range) & €62,435 (after 6 years satisfactory service at the maximum of the range)
