You will be a key team member of a client facing consulting team researching the economic dynamics of low carbon and renewable transportation fuels. This role is primarily focused on North American markets but include research on policies and market developments throughout the world. You will assist your team in developing and improving price forecasts for the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), the Canada Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR) and other emerging compliance markets. Your knowledge and expertise concerning established fuels like renewable natural gas and renewable diesel as well as next-generation biofuels like sustainable aviation fuel and hydrogen will grow as you incorporate your research and quantitative analysis into thorough market reports. Your purpose in this research will be to support investors, developers, government agencies and non-profit organizations develop, construct, and maintain energy assets, and implement programs for today and the future.
To support our growth, we seek a Low Carbon Fuel Economic Analyst to work in our Technical Advisory line of business. The consultant will conduct market research, support forecast model development and write market reports in a collaborative team environment. Team members at ICF have an opportunity to apply their experience and academic knowledge, gain exposure to major projects, and interact with experts and clients in the field, while building content knowledge and consulting skills. Team members advance in our consulting practice typically develop an area of special competence, with increasing responsibility for project management, modeling subject matter expertise, and client contact.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain economic forecast models in the North American low carbon and renewable transportation fuel industry, particularly in the Renewable Fuel Standard, California Low Carbon Fuel Standard and the Canada Clean Fuel Regulations.
- Stay up to date on and analyze the economic implications of various regulatory developments at the state, provincial and federal levels.
- Conduct thorough research on various segments of the biofuel industry
- Author insightful and accurate market reports on the biofuel and low carbon fuel industry.
- Collaborate with numerous teams throughout ICF to gather highest quality expertise for client needs.
- Bachelor’sDegree in Economics, Business, Environmental Policy, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines and 2+ years of relevant energy industry experience or Master's degree plus 1 year of industry and or internship experience
- Experience programming in, Python, Stata, Matlab, VBA or willingness to learn
- Close attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with a remote team
- Advanced degree in Economics, Environmental Policy, Environmental Sciences,
- Biofuel and/or low carbon transportation fuel market experience
- Understanding of agriculture and other feedstock markets a plus
- Experience programming in R, Python, Matlab, or VBA
- Previous consulting experience
- Strong modeling skills
- Collaboratively executes their work with oversight and input from peers, direct reports, and superiors
- Understands task expectations and how tasks fit in the overall project.
- Works collaboratively with project team and client to define and achieve established goals.
- Organizes written work in a manner that is clear, easy to follow, and tailored for the intended audience.
