Candidate Profile We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Manager, Planning & Engineering to lead the integration of engineering, permitting, and project development functions across ibVs national solar and storage pipeline. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and analytical expertise with strategic leadership capabilitiesbalancing high-level oversight of project design, risk management, and permitting with hands-on coordination between internal teams and external partners. This individual will serve as the Deputy to the Executive Director of Planning & Engineering and primary liaison between the Planning & Engineering Division, Project Development, and Corporate Finance, ensuring that all engineering deliverables align with commercial objectives and execution timelines. Position & Impact The Senior Manager will oversee the engineering strategy, design optimization, and permitting pathways for ibVs large-scale renewable projects. You will play a critical role in shaping the companys project pipeline from feasibility through construction readiness, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and innovation in all technical deliverables. Your leadership will directly influence the companys development velocity, capital efficiency, and overall project successdriving ibVs position as a premier U.S. renewable energy developer. Ideal candidates will have work experience with EPC, IE/OE engineering firms, planning, and zoning commissions, and permitting with various federal, state, and local agencies. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Serve as Deputy to the Executive Director of Planning & Engineering, providing leadership continuity, operational support and decision-making support. Advance technical and strategic initiatives aligned with corporate and project development goals. Oversee civil/land development and electrical engineering scopes to ensure coordination from design through construction readiness. Liaise between P&E, Project Development, and Finance to integrate engineering, permitting, and interconnection requirements. Maintain engineering standards, risk assessment frameworks, and quality control protocols across all projects. Project Development & Execution Oversee early-stage site evaluations, constraints analyses, and conceptual layouts to guide project viability. Coordinate permitting strategy with local, state, and federal agencies (USACE, SHPO, USFWS, and AHJs). Oversee crossing agreements, legal descriptions and land development packages to ensure compliance and accuracy. Collaborate with Project Development and Corporate Finance on cost, constructability, and technical risk factors affecting project economics. Governance & Oversight Track engineering budgets, schedules, and progress across multiple concurrent projects; identify and mitigate risks to scope and timeline. Support the Executive Director in technical reviews and executive decision making. Team & Culture Development Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and planners to strengthen technical capacity. Foster a collaborative, solutions-driven team culture grounded in innovation, quality, and accountability. Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil, Environmental, Electrical, or related Engineering field (P.E. license or PMP certification preferred). 5+ years of experience in renewable energy, site development, or related engineering management roles. Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and external consultants in fast-paced, multi-project environments. Strong understanding of permitting processes and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Advanced proficiency with GIS, CAD, and project management software: MATLAB, HelioScope, PVsyst, PvWatts, PVTools, PSS/E, SolarAnywhere, Propsect, ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills with an ability to synthesize complex technical data into actionable insights.
