The Centre would like to seek applicants for Senior Research Assistant/ Research Assistant with a strong interest in researching sustainable energy studies.
About our Asian Energy Studies Centre:
Our Centre aims to be an internationally recognised hub for sustainable energy studies in the Asian and European regions.
- We are committed to pursuing excellence in academic research in the areas of sustainable energy, with particular focus from the perspectives of governance in the Asian and European context.
- We promote informed energy decision-making and improve energy policies in this region, including Hong Kong, by creating new knowledge, providing practical policy recommendations, promoting knowledge exchange, and facilitating stakeholder engagement.
- We undertake interdisciplinary collaborative research projects, organise academic workshops, public seminars and other engagement events.

Responsibilities:
This is a dynamic role which will support our research on energy-related studies from governance and policy perspectives, including projects on smart low-carbon communities, app-based energy-saving, energy transitions and solar energy developments in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, the Asian and European regions.
The responsibilities include:
- Research support: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including, but not limited to, literature review; drafting preliminary academic papers, research reports, presentations; interviews, focus group discussions, field observations; questionnaire surveys, and review of reports and archives.
- Project coordination: Manage workflow and liaise with team members and collaborators to ensuring meeting of key project milestones.
- Data management: Maintain and manage various datasets, including, but not limited to, questionnaire data, qualitative data, real-time and/or hourly energy consumption data, and electricity bill data.
- Event preparation: Administer, plan, and publicise for events such as conferences, workshops and seminars.
- Outreach: Assist in maintaining and strengthening centre’s partnerships with local and international NGOs, businesses, government agencies, community groups and fellow researchers.
- Administrative tasks: Handle administrative tasks and liaise with internal and external parties.
Requirements:
- Applicants should have a good Bachelor's or Master's Degree, preferably in energy studies, environmental studies, geography or related social science disciplines;
- Experiences in community engagement, AI technologies (such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and generative AI), and database management are preferred;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluency in Cantonese) are needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential; and
- The appointee should be self-motivated, responsive, conscientious, and able to work independently and under pressure. Immediately available preferred.

The initial appointment will be offered on a temporary basis or fixed-term contract of one year.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
