Financial Controller (Renewable Energy)
Financial Controller - Renewable Energy - Blanchardstown - Hybrid Working
HireForce is working with a growing renewable energy business to recruit a Financial Controller for one of its operating plants in Dublin. This is a key appointment and an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who wants to take full ownership of finance within an operational business.
As the sole finance professional based within the company, you will manage the complete finance function while also contributing to the broader commercial and operational management of the plant. Although the role offers significant autonomy, you will have ongoing support from the Dublin-based private equity group that owns the business.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a genuinely broad Financial Controller position offering considerably more exposure than a traditional reporting role. You will become the financial lead for the business, work closely with the operational team and have direct visibility with the private equity owners. The position offers autonomy and influence at plant level, combined with the resources and support of an established investment group. For an ambitious accountant, this is an opportunity to play an important role in the financial and operational development of a growing renewable energy business.
The Role
Working closely with the plant’s operational leadership and the wider group finance team, your responsibilities will include:
- Taking full ownership of the day-to-day finance function
- Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting packs
- Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning
- Monitoring plant performance, costs, margins and operational KPIs
- Providing financial analysis and commercial insight to support decision-making

- Managing the annual audit and preparing statutory financial information
- Ensuring all tax, regulatory and financial reporting requirements are met
- Monitoring capital expenditure and supporting investment appraisals
- Maintaining a strong financial control environment
- Developing and improving finance systems, processes and reporting
- Liaising with banks, auditors, advisers, suppliers and other external stakeholders
- Working closely with the parent company on group reporting and strategic projects
- Supporting commercial contracts, procurement and wider plant administration
- Contributing to operational projects outside the traditional finance remit
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A professional accounting qualification
- Strong management accounting, financial reporting and commercial finance experience
- The confidence to independently manage a complete finance function
- Experience within renewable energy, utilities, manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment would be advantageous
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management skills
- An ability to translate financial information into meaningful commercial insight
