About Highwood
Highwood Emissions Management is the industry's independent partner on methane — combining the world's most widely deployed methane reporting platform with a consulting team that sits at the frontier of measurement science, regulatory development, and emissions strategy.
Our clients include producers accounting for over 10% of global oil and gas production. We have delivered more than 300 methane engagements across 50+ operators on six continents, and we maintain a 100% success rate on OGMP 2.0 Gold Standard submissions. When regulations change, we know first — because our team is writing the standards, advising regulators, and shaping industry practice from the inside.
We launched in 2020 with a mission to collaborate, innovate, and educate our way to a world with effective and affordable emissions management. That mission is more urgent than ever: methane is shifting from voluntary disclosure to commercial liability, and the operators who get this right early will have a durable competitive advantage. Our job is to make sure they do.
Working at Highwood is not easy — but it is meaningful, fast-moving, and genuinely consequential. If you want to work on one of the hardest and most important problems in energy transition, alongside people who are shaping how the world measures and manages methane, this is the place.
Highwood is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. We value diversity of experience, worldview, and perspective.
Your Mission
Methane is the defining emissions challenge of the energy transition. The science is hard, the data is complex, and the gap between what operators report and what they actually emit can be significant. Closing that gap — with rigor, credibility, and precision — is what Highwood does. As a Consultant, you are where that work happens.
You are the person who turns methane expertise into client value. Most of your time is spent doing the work: researching, analyzing, writing, and delivering the outputs that help clients understand and manage their emissions. You are not a support function — you are a core contributor on complex technical engagements, working alongside a team of experts who are setting the standard for what credible methane management looks like globally.
You bring 5+ years of relevant experience and a genuine command of your area of expertise. You can work independently, manage your time across multiple projects, and communicate technical findings clearly to clients. You know when to ask for guidance and when to run. And you are motivated by the knowledge that what you produce matters — not just to clients, but to the broader challenge of getting methane right at a global scale.
What You’ll Do
Client Delivery
- Stay current with methane measurement, regulatory, reporting, and data science developments — and translate that expertise into high-quality deliverables
- Contribute billable hours across client projects spanning emissions inventory development, measurement programme design, OGMP 2.0 reporting, regulatory compliance, data analysis, and related work
- Lead cross-functional project teams — including data scientists, engineers, and consultants — to ensure clients receive technically rigorous, fit-for-purpose solutions
- Step in as a lead contributor on project components where your expertise is strongest
- Apply statistical thinking to navigate missing data, conflicting signals, and uncertainty, and communicate that reasoning clearly to clients and internal teams
- Strengthen client deliverables by visualizing and contextualizing messy, real-world operational and emissions data using Python-based data science workflows — including data cleaning, standardization, and reconciliation with tools such as Pandas and NumPyDeliver consistently — on time, on scope, and to the standard Highwood is known for
Project Support & Professional Development
- Contribute to client relationship management and internal project tracking using Highwood's systems and SOPs
- Follow project management guidance from your manager; identify opportunities to improve processes and tools — including data and analytics workflows — and champion them across the team
- Actively pursue external opportunities to expand your industry knowledge and share what you learn with the broader team
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior consultants, including on data analysis approaches and tooling
- Engage with Highwood thought leaders to deepen your understanding of the methane landscape
Business Development
- Contribute to proposal writing and scope development
- Participate in networking and business development events to grow your professional network
- Support the BD team by following up with and engaging potential clients
About You
- The right person for this role is someone who is serious about the craft. You have built a foundation of relevant expertise, and you are ready to apply it in a fast-moving consulting environment where quality is non-negotiable and the work genuinely matters.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in oil and gas, environmental consulting, emissions management, or a directly adjacent field
- Demonstrated understanding of your area of expertise — you can discuss it confidently with clients and colleagues
- Strong written and oral communication skills: you produce thorough, well-written deliverables and tailor technical content to different audiences
- Strong analytical skills: you can work through complex problems, identify what information is needed, and know when to seek input from others
- Familiarity with methane emissions measurement, OGMP 2.0, LDAR, or regulatory reporting frameworks is a strong asset
- Strong quantitative and statistical skills, including experience applying analytical methods under uncertainty to methane measurement, reconciliation, or emissions data
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis (e.g., Pandas, NumPy), with experience turning messy, real-world datasets into structured, analyzable data
- Experience managing your own time and workload across multiple concurrent projects
- A genuine desire to keep learning — and to share what you learn with the team
- A degree in engineering, environmental science, data science, or a related field
