HEPCO Inc. is seeking a Project Staff Engineer to support energy efficiency initiatives within the Customer Energy Solutions organization. This role leverages a strong foundation in energy engineering, financial analysis, and project oversight to ensure the successful delivery of energy efficiency programs. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in evaluating energy savings, reviewing technical designs, and ensuring projects meet performance and cost-effectiveness targets. This includes working closely with stakeholders to validate engineering models, audits, and post-construction performance. Key Responsibilities Provide engineering support for energy efficiency projects, with a focus on energy savings calculations and validation Conduct technical evaluations of investment-grade audits performed by third parties Review engineering design documents and energy models to ensure accuracy and compliance Perform technical QA/QC during and after construction to verify projected energy savings are achieved Evaluate and validate multimillion-dollar project savings estimates using technical resource manuals and sound engineering principles Oversee small to mid-sized projects, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance Interface with PSEG associates, vendors, customers, and consultants to ensure program requirements are met Support regulatory reporting by ensuring accurate and timely technical data Identify, assess, and standardize complex energy savings methodologies across Commercial & Industrial and Multifamily programs Develop technical documentation, tools, and engineering calculators to streamline reviews and improve deliverable quality Apply business and financial principles to evaluate project cost-effectiveness and performance Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Minimum 2 years of experience in: Energy efficiency projects, OR Project management within construction, HVAC, or mechanical systems (C&I environments) Strong knowledge of: Commercial & Industrial and Multifamily energy efficiency measures Energy savings methodologies and techniques Familiarity with: ASHRAE standards, NJ Technical Reference Manual (TRM) Applicable building codes and industry best practices Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated leadership ability on projects or initiatives Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word Valid driver's license with ability to travel within PSE&G territory Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace Preferred Qualifications Certified Energy Manager (CEM) – Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) LEED Certification, Professional Engineer (PE), or Lean Six Sigma Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, VBA macros) Experience with building energy modeling software, such as: eQUEST EnergyPlus TRACE 3D Familiarity with advanced building controls and energy-saving methodologies Benefits: Health Insurance Sick time 401k Pay Range: $53.00 - $63.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications) By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from HEPCO, Inc and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
