SHEQ Advisor - Remote

Must be able to travel between Manchester & Eastbourne

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Our client is a respected and rapidly expanding civils & renewable energy contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and energy projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support the delivery of industry-leading health, safety, environmental and quality standards throughout the business

Working closely with the SHEQ Manager and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance, improving processes and promoting best practice across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects

This is a predominantly field-based position, with regular site visits (typically 3-4 days per week), 1 day working from home

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing management and continual improvement of the company's SHEQ management systems
  • Review project health, safety and environmental documentation as part of the project approval process
  • Conduct specialist assessments where suitably qualified and competent, including:
    • Fire Risk Assessments
    • COSHH Assessments
    • Environmental Assessments
    • Lifting Operations Assessments
  • Undertake desktop and compliance audits to ensure project teams maintain required standards and documentation
  • Carry out site inspections and audits, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Assist in accident, incident and near-miss investigations
  • Provide SHEQ advice and guidance to project managers, supervisors and site teams
  • Contribute to the development, review and enhancement of company policies, processes, procedures and documentation
  • Support the enforcement of legislative, regulatory and client-specific requirements
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and environmental awareness across all business activities
Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in a SHEQ Advisor, HSE Advisor or Health & Safety Advisor role
  • Experience within renewables, utilities, construction, infrastructure, civil engineering or a related sector
  • Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Experience carrying out audits, inspections and risk assessments
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Expectation to stay away 1/2 nights a week
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • Full UK Driving Licence
