Hadron Energy specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development, design, and research based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the leading MMR developer, Hadron Energy is building factory-produced, transportable microreactors that provide 24/7 carbon‑free power for data centers, government facilities, industrial sites, and remote communities. Our mission is to create a brighter, healthier, and more equitable energy future.
This is a full‑time on‑site role for a Structural Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in structural analysis, design, and materials engineering who are passionate about advancing nuclear innovation through precision engineering and safety‑focused design.
The Structural Engineer will lead the structural design, analysis, and verification of Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor systems, enclosures, and supporting infrastructure. This individual will work closely with mechanical, thermal, and civil engineers to ensure structural integrity under normal, seismic, and extreme loading conditions.
You will play a critical role in translating conceptual designs into engineered, manufacturable structures that meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements—helping to pioneer scalable clean energy systems built for resilience and global deployment.
Design and analyze structural systems for reactor modules, enclosures, transport frames, and balance‑of‑plant components
Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural integrity, stresses, fatigue, and thermal effects
Develop and review structural drawings, calculations, and material specifications in compliance with ASME, AISC, and NRC standards
Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and manufacturing teams to ensure structures are optimized for assembly, transportability, and modular production
Conduct seismic, wind, and load analyses in accordance with applicable building codes and nuclear safety requirements
Support the selection and qualification of structural materials for high‑temperature and radiation environments
Prepare design documentation and reports for internal reviews and regulatory submissions
Coordinate with external vendors, fabricators, and inspectors to verify design intent and quality standards
Support prototype testing, validation, and design modifications as part of the development cycle
Contribute to design reviews, safety evaluations, and multidisciplinary integration meetings
