This project manager position will lead implementation of projects that aim to reduce the environmental impact of the department’s six vehicular crossings and two bus facilities. It will be responsible for strengthening the department’s critical infrastructure against climate-related risks, and ensuring that its mobility networks meet the agency’s Net Zero goals. The role will collaborate with interdisciplinary units and departments, as well as external business partners and stakeholders to carry out the planning, engineering, procurement, and realization of sustainability and resiliency projects, with an overall responsibility for the successful execution and delivery of these efforts. The position requires strong project management skills, technical understanding of sustainability and resiliency topics, and the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across teams. Responsibilities And Functions Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Directly manage and provide hands-on support to advance sustainability and resiliency projects and initiatives, and facilitate frequent coordination with internal and external partners in project
- Prepare and update project management tools, dashboards, and reporting systems to ensure
- Projects pertain to environmental stewardship, climate readiness, sustainable infrastructure, energy efficiency and electrification, and operational excellence and optimization.
- Specific projects might include: fleet electrification, alternative fuel sourced transportation, renewable energy development, sustainable construction practices, and efforts to address climate risks like flooding, sea-level rise, extreme heat, and severe weather impacts on transportation systems.
- Develop and maintain systems to collect, analyze, and report TB&T’s progress on key Net Zero programs and goals, including GHG emissions reduction, utility and energy use and efficiency, and waste stream management and diversion.
- Use system to support the Agency’s annual GHG emissions reduction reporting.
- Provide reports on facility utility and energy use and performance, and prepare analyses to drive long term Net Zero and sustainability strategies.
- Assist in examining utility use, account payments, and annual utility and energy budgeting.
- Support the team and wider Asset Management division by delivering sustainability and resiliency projects that align with Agency- and Department-wide visions, missions, priorities, and policies, as well as industry best practices.
- Serve as a dedicated and proactive team member with a collaborative and flexible approach and be willing to take on management of projects within the Division, while working with other TB&T units, teams, and business partners.
- Participate in Agency-wide steering committees, task forces, and workgroups around shared initiatives, and support partnerships that drive priorities on an as needed basis.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Civil/Transportation Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum five (5) years’ project management experience within transportation, infrastructure,
- Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products and ability to become proficient with Port Authority software and reporting systems.
- Professional accreditations including PMP, LEED, etc. a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
