Position: Senior Carbon Analyst

Team: Carbon

Location: Mumbai - Head Office

Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced and commercially oriented Senior Carbon Analyst to

support carbon removal calculations, modelling, LCA, methodology interpretation, MRV

analysis, and carbon market assessment. The role will involve working closely with the

Carbon team to ensure the accuracy and quality of carbon calculations and operational data,

while also assessing market developments and their impact on Ground Up's carbon projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform carbon removal calculations.
• Analyse permanence and decay modelling and conduct independent calculations.
• Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
• Interpret registry methodologies and track project alignment.
• Evaluate and report on methodology updates and their potential impacts.
• Analyse operational MRV datasets.
• Conduct data QA/QC.
• Support carbon pricing and issuance forecasting.
• Analyse carbon market trends and developments.
• Support the Carbon team with data-driven insights for project and commercial
• decisions.

Requirements

Must have

• 3+ years of experience in carbon accounting, carbon markets, carbon removal, LCA, or
• a related field.
• Good understanding of carbon removal and carbon credit calculations.
• Experience with data analysis and MRV.
• Basic understanding of LCA and carbon accounting.
• Ability to understand and interpret carbon standards and methodologies.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail and communication skills.

Strongly preferred

• Experience in biochar or carbon removal projects.
• Experience working with carbon registries and methodologies such as Verra, Puro.earth,
• Isometric, or similar.
• Experience with MRV, carbon credit issuance, or verification.
• Knowledge of carbon markets and carbon pricing.
• Experience with Python, R, SQL, or similar data tools.
• Understanding of biomass, pyrolysis, or agriculture.
• Experience working in a startup or climate-tech company.
