We are seeking a motivated individual Greensteps as a Sales Trader and Consultant specializing in environmental commodities working for the Iberian or Benelux market. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our team by actively participating in the buying and selling of various environmental commodities, with a focus on biomethane and other environmental commodities to our clients.


In this role, your exceptional phone sales skills will be pivotal as you engage with potential clients, nurturing relationships and generating leads to propel our trading business forward. As part of a scale-up environment, your contributions will be instrumental in establishing our market presence and achieving our growth targets.


As a Sales Trader, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Client Portfolio Management: You'll be tasked with managing and building a diverse portfolio of clients across different industries and sizes. Building strong, trusting relationships with each client is essential, requiring exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Lead Generation and Cold Calling: A proactive approach is essential in this role. You'll need to source new leads independently and make impactful connections through extensive cold calling. Your goal is not only establish contact, but to build a strong client relationship that sets you apart from competitors and leads to successful deals.


  • Collaborative Deal Closing: While you'll manage your own client portfolio, collaboration with colleagues is central to closing deals. Working together, you'll strategize and execute deals, drawing upon the expertise and client bases of each team member.


  • Specialization in Environmental and Energy Sector: A distinctive aspect of your role involves gaining expertise in the environmental and energy sector. Staying up-to-date on market trends, regulatory shifts, and emerging opportunities is crucial. Your insights will inform trading decisions and enable you to provide valuable guidance to both your team and clients.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong business acumen with a keen interest in energy markets and the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and phone sales skills for building relationships with counterparties, generating leads and closing deals.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy in trade execution and reporting.
  • Language skills: fluent in Dutch or Spanish, together with business English.

Voluntary Carbon Market

A market where companies and individuals voluntarily buy carbon credits to offset their emissions. Each credit represents a verified reduction or removal of greenhouse gases from projects like reforestation, renewable energy or energy efficiency.
