Greenpeace International is looking for a Senior Insights Manager – Data Intelligence to provide expert understanding of how data and analytics can create value, inform business, fundraising and financial planning, and contribute to meaningful change in the world.

This is a leadership position in which you will manage a team of analysts conducting engagement (fundraising, mobilisation, social/media, etc.) analyses in order to track progress of our engagement strategies and to identify best practices, risks or new opportunities.

You will be Greenpeace International’s resident data intelligence and analytics domain expert, while as part of the larger Data, Insights and Engineering teams, you will also be helping to modernise and revolutionise how data is used across the organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the development, review and refinement of Greenpeace data strategy by providing timely input and feedback to management based on own domain of expertise and experience.

  • Take responsibility for the data and technology strategies and lead complex projects.

  • Line manage analysts, data specialists, technical contractors and freelancers.

  • Maintain vendor relationships, with accountability for data projects delivered by 3rd party vendors.

  • Hold responsibility of ‘Organisational Data Steward’ and participation on the Data Governance Council.

  • Develop global reporting and data systems to effectively report, analyse and manage Greenpeace data.

  • Develop technical strategy for system architecture and design decisions for data systems.

  • Develop and maintain automated data ingestion and transformation processes.

  • Lead analysis projects and the development of actionable data insights.

What we’re looking for:

Senior Insights Manager of Data Intelligence, is an important leadership position responsible for the implementation and execution of our Data Strategy in their domain. We’re looking for an individual who can lead our organization in understanding how data creates value and how it can be utilized to run a more effective organization, while also keeping a close eye on the technical implementation & work your team delivers.

Whilst we recognise that no single individual will have every skill or experience needed for this role and you’ll have the opportunity to learn a lot from the team. We believe someone who has a few of these is well suited to exceed in this role:

  • Significant level of exposure to the following areas: fundraising, finance, computer science, business, engagement, digital or a related field. (Equivalent experience gained through a related professional qualification is also desirable.)

  • Significant experience in a Data Analyst role using programmatic analysis technologies and methodologies – including advanced knowledge of SQL, or Python.

  • Demonstrable experience presenting Insights at Strategic Director Level, with understanding of business and financial planning.

  • Expert understanding of the analytic domain, with the ability to translate data conclusions into actionable recommendations and to communicate conclusions of complex data analysis to non-expert audiences.

  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence system design and implementation.

  • Analytical knowledge of database structures and designs, including Extract Transform and Load (ETL) process automation.

  • Ability to develop ad-hoc tools for analysis and forecasting.

  • Fluent written and spoken English, with experience working with multicultural senior staff/teams and across time zones.

  • Support for and belief in Greenpeace core aims and values.
