  • (This is a 2 year project position with funding secured for this period, the role is initially offered on a 12 month contract basis with possibility of extension to at least 2 years (subject to local labour law).


Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located ( subject to agreement).

Greenpeace International is looking for an Operations Manager – Global Learning & Development to provide the expert operational, project, financial and information management that underpins this core organisational strength.


Working closely with the Head of Learning & Development, you’ll support the Global Learning & Development (L&D) team by implementing and optimizing the processes related to their operational workflow. You’ll be ensuring that Greenpeace International (GPI) and its National & Regional Organisations (NROs) have access to up to date and accurate information on all Global L&D programmes and services.


In this role you will:

  • Manage operations and logistics for Global L&D team meetings, retreats and skillshares, including event planning, on-site support and facilitation of meetings.

  • Oversee structure and permissions of cloud storage used to house and share all Global L&D training materials/content and train staff to use it.

  • Create a Yearly Global L&D calendar, for the programme leads to populate and maintain.

  • Assist with consultancy contracts and HR processes, including for freelancers and interns.

  • Project manage internal L&D development projects and working groups, track progress and facilitate internal collaboration/information flow between project/working groups leads.

  • Manage the Global L&D budget expenditure, including drafting, monitoring, and reviewing to support the Head of Global L&D in budget development and implementation.

  • Prepare a monthly overview for the team and quarterly review meetings.

  • Build and maintain internal networks to facilitate information flow and identification of opportunities for collaboration on L&D topics.

  • Act as a central point of contact for inquiries from GPI staff, NROs and external organisations and maintain our intranet to provide consistent and accurate information.

  • Manage and oversee stakeholder liaison relationships, e.g. with other GPI units, external vendors, etc.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Substantial experience in an operational and/or project management role in an international organisation.

  • Proven project management skills in setting up and managing shared calendars, team drives and document management systems.

  • Experience working across multiple time zones and with multicultural, multi-lingual teams.

  • Experience in financial management, including overseeing the yearly budget cycle.

  • Excellent communication skills, at all levels of the organisation, with the ability to support and improve communication within and between teams, including facilitation of team meetings, plus experience of information management and audience-centred communication.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Support for and belief in Greenpeace core aims & values.
